Your audiences have been thrilled and amazed at your brilliant performances. What a great opportunity for all of us to experience the music you have working on the season as follows:
“Pitch Pipes & Push Turns” ONCUE & SHINE - 4/15 “SING” SENIOR HI & ACT3 - May 25th YSC has advertised and then complimented all of these amazing Shows through MUSEO and including the “Firework” JUNIOR HI 2012 Tour to California March 23rd – 30th as well as the “Podium” 2012 ONCUE Tour to Ottawa May 17 – 20. Today we are also adding accolades to the wonderful Shows of last weekend. Sing and Enchanted Shows were truly exciting and so professionally executed! Let’s all join and celebrate with KIDAZZLE, KIDZXPRESS AND JUNIOR HI as they present, “Dynamite” on Saturday, June 2nd @2:30 as their exciting year end Show at Glenmore Christian Academy Theatre! Also, our second ‘STAR (Special Needs) Pilot’ invite you to their Presentation Monday June 18th @7:00 at PAYC. Choral music. From all reports, their performance was outstanding in every way. They were the only group selected to perform (audition was done by blind jury summer of 2011) from Western Canada (west of Thunderbay). We are so proud of them and their amazing accomplishments. Thank you to those of you who supported this professional development and performance opportunity for ONCUE.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now how WONDERFUL Podium was! On Cue had an amazing performance. We recieved tons of compliments and positive feedback- we blew them away with our creativity, professionalism, and innovation. We had a surge in our Facebook fans after Will announced it to our audience! Not only was On Cue great but I was personally able to do lots of networking with other conductors and publishers. I had lengthy conversations with publishers about what I have done and what’s to come. They gave me pointers and advice. However the best part was that they ALL already knew my name and compositions!! How cool!!
I am totally excited for Podium 2014 in Halifax. Even if On Cue doesn’t go (which would be a shame) I would like for Youth Singers to consider sending me and other directors to represent Youth Singers. This past Podium was incredibly eye-opening and reassuring that Youth Singers is an advanced organization with plenty to offer. I can’t wait for the next Podium to do even more networking!

FLASH MOB OPPORTUNITY Espy is doing a SECRET FLASH MOB during Inglewood’s Sunfest Festival with the help of the ILLFX dance crew and the Sunfest Festival! There will be an opportunity for everyone JUNIOR HI and up to perform in this flash mob! Rehearsals: June 9 &/or 10th 3-4pm @ PAYC More details are on the website. We have rehearsals for YSC at our own PAYC. You can come on either day or both days.

GLEEK OUT (ages 8-14)
Get ready to “Gleek Out!” this summer with the Youth Singers of Calgary. Our week long “Gleek Out!” Show Choir camps offer kids ages 8-14 the chance to sing and dance like the stars of the hit TV show and experience something totally different and totally exciting. Participants will learn a three song set, record a demo CD and perform in costume at the end of the week Showcase. Dates are as follows: July 23-27: ages 10-12 Aug 13-17: ages 8-10 Aug 20-24: ages 12-14 Register Today!
This year we will be producing FAME – The Musical. In addition to a role in the production we will offer vocal master classes, acting training and dance fundamentals. Auditions will be held on April 13, 2012. Our thanks to everyone who has volunteered to come out and help us put on our major summer fundraiser on Thursday, June 7th! We are still seeking a few volunteers in the afternoon and evening of that day to help us out on the course and to help set up and run our silent auction.
JULY CASINO: A FEW GOOD “COUNT ROOM” VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
A wonderful response to our recruitment drive for our casino on July 15th and 16th has us almost fully-staffed! All we need to close the gap is a few count room volunteers on each day.

The Costa Rican’s have a saying – “Pura Vida”. It literally means “pure life”, but the saying goes beyond its simple translation – it symbolizes the idea of simply enjoying life and being happy. They use the phrase as their way of saying “hello”, “goodbye” and even “awesome”. Come along on the Youth Singers of Calgary’s tour to Costa Rica, and experience your own “Pura Vida”.
