 SHINE is looking for dynamic and skilled performers who are interested in performing live vocals in the pop and broadway genres with energetic choreography, with an emphasis on professional group vocals and visual presentation, voice-part independence, positive attitude and fun. All relevant experience with song and dance, musical theatre and other voice and dance are all assets. Candidates currently enrolled in Youth Singers or private voice lessons are an asset. Commitment fits into life nicely with a once-a-week evening rehearsal. Target members are men and women age 18-28 with a positive outlook, professional demeanor and image, and energetic and fun personality! Auditions for all voice types. We are taking registrations for our Summer Gleek Out Camps! Please find registration forms and information on our website here. Get ready to “Gleek Out!” this summer with the YSC. Our week long “Gleek Out!” Show Choir camps offer kids ages 8-14 the chance to sing and dance like the stars of the hit TV show and experience something totally different and totally exciting. Participants will learn a three song set, record a demo CD and perform in costume at the end of the week Showcase. Dates are as follows:
Aug 13-17: ages 8-10 (A few last minutes spots left)
Aug 20-24: ages 12-14 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Volunteers needed to work in the music department.

We have deposited on a specific number of airline seats and accommodations and don’t want anyone to miss this opportunity. First come first serve until it is full – pass it on!*** All performers in S, A Y, Q, E, plus staff and travelers are eligible for this tour. The Costa Rican’s have a saying – “Pura Vida”. It literally means “pure life”, but the saying goes beyond its simple translation – it symbolizes the idea of simply enjoying life and being happy. They use the phrase as their way of saying “hello”, “goodbye” and even “awesome”. Come along on the Youth Singers of Calgary’s tour to Costa Rica, and experience your own “Pura Vida”.

Kathy Seibel is asking for support for her “Foundation Fundraiser” which is being held at PAYC on Saturday, August 25th from 7:00 PM – midnight.
There will be a Silent Auction, cash bar, and great entertainment – Dean & Jory, Cracked Pots [blues / rock band], classical music + more! Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased by emailing Kathy at leakyfoundation@shaw.ca. Donations can be made through PayPal also. ***There are only 8 spots left for ACT3 and the SENIOR HI group is filling fast as well so act now and don’t be disappointed. The tour can include another ensemble of performers from the other older divisions as well but still can’t increase the total size of the group.
