Youth Singers is proud to offer 16 years of touring experience as a compliment to our performing program. Every year, at least one of our divisions is preparing to take the show on the road.

Recent Tours

Europe 2007- SENIOR HI, ACT 3 and ON CUE.

Toronto and Niagara Falls 2006- JUNIOR HI. JUNIOR HI brought home 7 trophies from two festivals.

New York 2005 - SENIOR HI and ACT 3 competed in two festivals, won First Place Gold Standing and were Grand Champions.

China 2004 - SENIOR HI, ACT 3 and ON CUE performed several main stage and a cappella shows in 8 cities.

California 2004 - JUNIOR HI. Our JUNIOR HI division brought home 5 trophies, including First Place Gold Standing. 

Why tour?

Touring is an optional, but integral part of the Youth Singers program:

• To educate and expose our singers to the larger world of performance

• participate in high level performances, competitions and/or festivals

• experience the excellence in a perfected product and artistic achievement that comes only through taking the show on the road

• increase individual and group adaptability to new situations

• social interaction and bonding with fellow singers

• act as ambassadors of Calgary, Alberta and Canada to the world, enhancing civic pride

• perform for an international audience

• experience other cultures

• see the world in a safe, controlled situation

• For memories and life-changing experiences

Touring is one of the most exciting and rewarding opportunities presented to singers in the program. In many cases, Youth Singers tours have resulted in life-changing experiences and in every case, lifelong memories. While touring is undertaken with an educational objective in mind, the learning that takes place extends far beyond the performance education that it affords.

Youth Singers has toured to 15 countries and performed throughout Canada and the USA. Past tours include Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe, Bahamas, China, the USA and Canada. International tours occur once every four years, with continental North American tours occurring the years in between. Destinations for future tours are selected on the basis of their educational merit, touring potential and cost.

Tours are ancillary to the Youth Singers program and therefore are budgeted and paid for outside of the core program. The majority of the cost of tours is borne by parents of singers; however there are some opportunities available to help offset these costs.
