Volunteer Program

Volunteerism is a central element of Youth Singers success. No matter where you look in the organization, a great team is involved. On and off stage, we encourage singers to work as a team. Behind the scenes, a great team is hard at work as well - moving equipment, setting up sound systems, building props and sets, sewing costumes, taking attendance, working in the office, organizing a special event, planning a tour or raising funds to keep the program going.

Youth Singers Team Spirit

The Youth Singers Volunteer Program is regarded as one of the best in the city by Volunteer Calgary. It isn't perfect, but through the Volunteer Program your time and talents can be put to use in helping us provide an excellent experience for our kids.

As a requirement of membership, each supporting family actively participates in the program in an appropriate volunteer capacity. Each family is asked to volunteer a minimum of 60 hours (approx. 6 hours/month) during the season per singer in the program. This can be devoted to regular weekly activities, like chaperoning, or to short-term projects like a workshop, performance or Special Event.

Volunteer opportunities at Youth Singers are abundant. We strive to distribute the workload equitably amongst all Youth Singers Families - many hands make light work. Our Volunteer Program works on the premise that people want to be involved in fulfilling and worthwhile ways. The Volunteer Manager, working in conjunction with each division's Volunteer Coordinator, ensures that every family is sharing the workload and finding satisfaction in being part of the program.

Through the Volunteer Program, you're likely to meet some of the most dedicated and talented people you'll find anywhere! The many varied needs of Youth Singers provides excellent opportunities for individuals to explore hidden talents, hone skills and work in areas that are of interest. Without the dedication, commitment, time and energy given Youth Singers by our volunteers, Youth Singers of Calgary could not exist.
