John Hildebrand

John has been working in the music and entertainment business for more than 50 years and has had the privilege to work with some of Canada’s top entertainers. John founded Century 21 Studios in 1968 and under his direction it became one of Canada’s top recording studios, producing jingles for corporate advertising clients including McDonald’s and The Bay and recording and producing albums for artists like Harry Belafonte, Streetheart and Queen City Kids. John was the director of sound for the Calgary Stampede Grandstand show for 37 years, working with countless headliners including Bob Hope, Charlie Rich, Roger Miller, Brenda Lee and Alan Thicke. John has had a successful career doing live audio, including touring with Bobby Vinton and Joan Rivers, providing sound direction for the Olympic Awards Stage at the XV Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, doing live audio for the Pope John Paul II’s visit to Canada and directing sound production for the Guess Who and other artists at several Grey Cup halftime shows. More recently, John has been working in the television industry, providing field audio and live television production support for a number of network shows including, working on the TV shows War Child with the Tragically Hip and Chantal Kreviazuk, The Randy Backman Story, a live show with Backman Turner Overdrive at the Prince Alberta Penitentiary, Hallmark and many, many more. John has been providing audio and technical support for the Youth Singers since the program was founded.
